The McKenzie Method is a philosophy of treatment centered about assessment, active patient involvement, and education for back pain (incl. sciatica), neck pain. headaches and extremity problems by practitioners and patients world-wide. Scott Schultz is a McKenzie Method Certified practioner. If your problem can be “treated” using the McKenzie Method, you will know in just 1-2 visits! There are 3 steps to success: First, the Assessment. The process begins with a thorough history and testing of movements to identify distinct patterns of pain responses and correlation with the underlying pain generator (cause). Second, Treatment.A specific program of exercise and position using the patients own movements and forces to abolish pain, begin correction of the actual “problem” and restore function. Third, Preventative Strategy.Long term success is achieved by the patients knowledge of “the do’s and don’ts” of problem aggravation and learning the self-treatment methods specific to their problem. It is important to realize that pain is a sign, notthe problem. One goal of the McKenzie Method is to discover and correct the problem. The other goal is to educate the patient to keep the problem from reoccurring. The McKenzie Method is both a cost and time effective means to treat your problem. No “never ending” treatments like some practitioners. Our goal is to facilitate your healing and teach YOU how to stay well.
